Hello,

I'mĀ Brandon R. Scarborough

I am a lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio, with over 17 years of experience in urban education. In 2016, I founded Dreams Academy to mentor young Black males. In our fifth year, we expanded to launch Queens Academy for young ladies, and recently introduced The Village to support single mothers. We maintain strong relationships with local and surrounding school districts and run our own afterschool programs. The City of Akron has also funded our efforts to help reduce youth violence. Click here to learn more about Dreams Academy and our programs!

Most recently, I was honored to be chosen as a 2024 Drexel Fund Founders Fellow, one of only four individuals selected nationwide. This fellowship will guide me through the process of opening our all-boys school, Dreams Academy, in 2025. You can learn more about this honor here!

I hold a Master's Degree in Education, moonlight as a professional gospel musician, and pride myself on being an amateur seafood connoisseur.

My passion is to see urban students succeed. I started DWT to highlight the challenges faced in primarily urban classrooms and to provide counsel and support to white teachers working with minority students. I look forward to engaging with you as we work together to positively impact our youth!
